Judge - Jenny Miller

Such a fantastic opportunity to judge at the Southern breed show. I must thank the Secretary and Committee for giving me the appointment which I really enjoyed. This is a breed which over many years ago I would have loved to have owned. I was delighted to be given the chance to go over so many and was pleased with the quality of the entry and thank the exhibitors for giving me the honour to judge their lovely dogs. I would like to thank Mike Brind my very capable steward for his enjoyable company and expertise.

Puppy Dog (2 entries)

1st Flanagan's Collansues Magical Spell.
Good size to this strongly made youngster nearing his first birthday. Presents a powerful correctly built and balanced outline on the stance. Masculine head of strength, well-marked with nice stop, dark alert eyes with tight rims giving expression with the use from well set ears. Strong muscular neck into laid back shoulders with a correct upper arm angle. Firm back line and moulded rump to well set and carried tail. Body with substance, depth to chest and brisket with well sprung ribs and a powerful hindquarter which have a good return of stifle and straight hocks. Coat changing from puppy to adult, puppy coat needs taken out as spoiling a good textured coat trying to get through. Straight well boned legs and tight round feet well padded, sympathetically handled to get the best from him with good side stride and sound coming and going.

2nd Hewitson's Monalou C'est La Vie. Much smaller build to this very smart baby giving away so much in age to the winner, is so nicely put together he should have a certain show career. Well-marked strong head, good skull and balanced straight foreface, nice defined stop and furrow, dark expressive eyes needing to tighten in rims, correct strength of jaw. Strong length of neck into well laid back shoulders into his firm backline. Nicely angulated body with depth to his chest and brisket, ribs are well defined and back with short loin, enough breadth to quarters and thighs with bend to stifle and short straight hocks. Straight boned legs, strong compact feet, disappointed to see him hocking out and very close at foot, should certainly tighten with age.

Junior Dog (1)

1st Rumble's Harvestbank In Dreams Of Glenbrienz.  On going over this boy felt he had so much to offer. Lovely outline with correct balance, superbly textured and presented coat with such a lovely gleam to the black, clean white and rich reddish markings. Masculine well marked head with strength flat skull, good stop, alert dark almond shaped eyes, well hung and used ears giving expression, strong jaw. Muscular moderate neck into well laid-back shoulders to an upper arm with enough angle. Level firm back over a lovely body with depth and substance, well sprung ribs into a good loin, well held and carried tail. Hindquarters broad and muscled, correct bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Straight well boned and balanced forelegs, slight sloping pasterns, tight padded short feet. Strong dog to handle but was so true in his side action and had good reach and drive from that powerfully built rear, still retains a slight puppy body roll. Stood alone in the class so had to pulled out all the stops in a strong line up where he moved out with style and so true. RESERVE BEST DOG.

Special Yearling Dog (1)

1st Austen's Halesbern The Warriors.  Very nice size and outline, masculine strong head, flat skull little wide between his ears which were well set and carried, dark kind alert eyes, defined stop, strong muzzle. Proud head carriage on medium strong length of neck, well laid into shoulders and a firm level back. Very well angulated from shoulder to upper arm with depth to chest and brisket, with elbows well in on strongly boned straight forelegs and compact feet. Correct body weight with nice sprung ribs little long in loin, good strength of quarter with rounded rump, would have liked more return of stifle, straight hocks. Covered the ground well with good side gait, little close at foot behind but forward action sound, very well presented coat of good rich colour and lovely texture.

Maiden Dog (2, 1 absent)

1st Arciszewiska & Sherratt's Kyleburn Night Voyager.  In my opinion felt he was a little unbalanced being shorter in leg and much longer in his back. Masculine head nicely marked, flat skull good width and well-placed ears, dark eyes well shaped, enough stop, strong muzzle. Muscular neck but a little short. Little steep in shoulder and upper arm and needing a little more depth of chest. Level back of strength rump could be a little rounder, tail set on high and is carried a little proud. Beautiful coat condition and colour on a body with ribs well sprung, well boned legs with compact feet, hindquarters could be better angulated. Well handled and moved out well has good stride just fraction close at foot front and rear,

Novice Dog (2, 1)

1st Arciszewiska & Sherratt's Kyleburn Night Voyager.

Lovely markings to strong head flat skull defined stop nice furrow, dark expressive almond shaped eyes with expression from well used and set of ears. Strong straight muzzle. Strong firm back with nicely rounded rump and tail set. Broad hindquarters well furnished, muscled with good turn of stifle and straight hocks, very stylish mover excellent side stride and very sound free mover with reach and drive.

2nd King & Bramble's Shirdees Leathal Weapon.  Similar in size and build and covers the ground well, has a stunning head lovely width of skull and high set well hung ears, expression slightly spoilt by round eye. Defined stop and strong straight muzzle. Proud head carriage on moderate neck well muscled into sloping shoulders, lovely angulation from shoulder to upper arm and depth to chest and brisket. Back is a little long and topline dips on the stance and on the move. Body with depth and of good weight ribs well sprung but long in loin behind ribs. Muscular quarters, has good return of stifle and short hocks. Straight well bone forelegs feet could be tighter. Beautifully soft textured coat of rich colour and so well presented. Moved out with good side stride, close behind and little too wide at front but has reach and drive.

Limit Dog (5, 1)

1st Vaychkus & Vaickus' Flintas Kalnu Suo At Bernaroso ShCM (Imp Lit).  Slightly smaller dog but completely breed balanced and looked very impressive on the stance and was so well handled to get the best from him. Strong nicely marked head flat skull good width with high set medium ears, dark almond shaped eyes, defined stop, strong straight muzzle. Beautiful head carriage on a strong medium neck which is set into sloping shoulders laid back into a level firm backline with rounded rump and correct tail set with nice bushy tail carriage. Well angulated front and rear quarters with balanced boned legs and tight compact feet, and well developed return of stifle and short straight hocks. Presented in a lovely conditioned richly coloured well marked, soft silky coat over a body with ribs well back and strong short loin. A very sound free mover with excellent side stride and so sound both ends. Certainly one with a future.

2nd Austen's Collansues Excalibur.  Like my winner, is a very compact build and looked impressive on the stance he was just a bigger boy all over. Strong head flat skull good width with high set ears used to advantage with his expression from almond shaped dark eyes, good stop and furrow, flat muzzle black nose. Strong medium neck sloping shoulders firm back line to rounded rump, correct tail set and carriage. Well bodied with depth and substance, correctly angulated front with depth to chest, straight well boned legs and tight small compact feet. Conditioned silky slightly wavy coat with excellent colour and markings. Muscular hindquarters well developed making him a stylish mover who covered the ground well and soundly.

Open Dog (6)

1st Rothery's Ch Glamrock Graffiti Artist ShCM.  This 4 years old male certainly painted a picture for me today. I thought him stunning on the stance so well presented in a rich coal black conditioned coat with lovely clean white and rich reddish markings. Of a correct size and having a sturdy compact outline. Masculine head of strength, flat skull, high set well used ears, dark kind almond eyes, defined stop, slight furrow, straight muzzle, black nose. Has a deep body with ribs well back with short strong loin. Enough chest depth, nicely angulated forequarters, straight well boned legs sloping pasterns and compact feet. Muscled broad thighs, good bend of stifle, straight short hocks. Very well handled to get the most from her dog who moved so correctly, he excelled in his movement with great stride and so sound BEST DOG, BEST OPPOSITE SEX.

2nd Shaw's Glanzberg Massif.  A very breed type dog so well proportioned and looked stylish on the stance. Strong masculine head good flat skull with width, nice high set ears giving expression to his dark almond shaped eyes tight rims, defined stop slight furrow, straight muzzle. Would like little more neck in shoulder and correct angulated upper arm. Firm back line with rounded rump with a well set tail. Firm broad hindquarters, with strong return of stifle. Deep body with well sprung ribs and with good brisket depth. Very clean, conditioned coat with slight wavy and good shine to his black jacket and correctly marked rich red. Straight well boned balanced legs with feet tight enough. Felt this boy was slightly let down by his older handler but they worked well together showed style and soundness and did have balanced side stride.

Veteran Bitch (1)
1st Flanagan's Collansues Rosebud.  This lovely breed type bitch has a super outline and was so nice to go over. I could not believe she was 8 years old as she still retains great muscle strength and tone. Presented in a quality silky flattish coat in lovely condition and with rich colours. Strong head flat skull, defined stop with sweet expression from dark well shaped eyes, uses her high set on ears well giving expression. Straight foreface clean teeth. Moderate neck well laid back sloping shoulders into a firm level back and nicely set on and carried tail. Well angulated front and rear. Her great depth of chest, brisket and body with substance makes her look just a little short on the leg, well boned with compact tight small feet. So well handled to get the best from her, has good reach and drive, is sound both ends just a little close a foot behind.

Puppy Bitch (2, 1)

Good neck length to shoulder into a firm level back moulded rump with low set tail with and odd action, carried very low with a slight wag. Correctly angulated front and rear. Balanced legs would like more strength to bone, tight enough feet. Moved wide at front but sound behind although close, covered the ground well. BEST PUPPY BITCH. Did not stay for the challenge
